MNC-SME Linkages in Latin America
MNC-SME Linkages in Latin America
This joint report by AS/COA and Florida International University explores types of connections that can be established between multinational corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Latin America.
AS/COA and Florida International University launched a joint white paper that explores the linkages between multinational corporations (MNCs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Latin America. The report considers the types of connections that can be established between both actors, and the factors that encourage and impede synergistic linkages between the two. It argues that establishing new connections between MNCs and SMEs and enhancing the existing ones is a strategic choice that will allow them to thrive in a globally interdependent economy. The white paper also outlines the findings from interviews conducted with top executives from six multinational corporations in Latin America spanning the sectors of technology, supply chain management, and financial services. The interviews revealed that all MNCs hold true to the importance of participating and helping construct a robust and vibrant digital ecosystem, by either engaging directly with SMEs and developing technologies to meet their needs, or by first working through networks of partners before doing so.
