Exhibition Opening and Panel Discussion of Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg
Overview
Admission is open to the public and free of charge. Prior registration is required.
Americas Society invites you to the exhibition opening and panel discussion of Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg. Borrowing its enigmatic title from the words of Guillaume Apollinaire, the show chronicles the making of a multilayered project by Mexican artist Erick Meyenberg (Mexico, 1980). Working for two years with a local high school marching band in Mexico City, Meyenberg orchestrated a complex performance which took place throughout the capital and that provokes a reflection on the pedagogical machinery of discipline, education, gender, and the state.
The night of the opening, Meyenberg engages in a conversation with curators Gabriela Rangel (Americas Society) and Lucía Sanromán (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts), and Professor Anna Indych-López (The Graduate Center, CUNY).
