Pablo Mainetti comes to Music of the Americas with an all-star group of tango musicians to perform his own original compositions as well as tango classics. This event will feature Mainetti alongside Nick Danielson, Adam Tully, Octavio Brunetti, and Pedro Giraudo.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1971, Pablo Mainetti began his musical education in Argentina. He developed his ability as bandoneonist with different orchestras under the direction of such conductors as Atilio Stampone, Oscar Berlingieri, Daniel Binelli, Néstor Marconi, Julio Pane, Raúl Garello, Carlos García, Leopoldo Federico, and Julián Plaza. He has performed with Tango Orchestra from Buenos Aires City, Orquesta Juan de Dios Filiberto, Quintet of the Foundation Ástor Piazzolla, Octeto Electrónico Ástor Piazzolla, Gustavo Santaolalla, and Leo Sujatovich, among others.
Mainetti also played as soloist at the Concert Bandoneon by Ástor Piazzolla with the Orchestra Teatre Liure (Barcelona). He performed with the Orchestra Granada City and the National Orchestra from Spain under the direction of Josep Pons. He recorded for Harmonia Mundi and played with Tolouse Capitol Orchestra, BBC Orchestra, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, and Lisbon Gulbenkian Orchestra.
He currently teaches bandoneon at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda and is head of the bandoneon program at the Conservatorio de Música de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
