Video - Gold Insigne Award Dinner: Ollanta Humala, President of Peru

Peru's President Ollanta Humala received Americas Society's highest honor on September 25 in New York in recognition of his accomplishments as leader of the Andean country. Humala outlined the country's infrastructure plan and spoke about his administration's social inclusion policies, as well as the plans to increase education funding. The president also spoke about the country's relationship with China, calling it a "strategic partner."

Americas Society’s Gold Insigne is awarded to democratically elected heads of state from the Western Hemisphere who work to promote greater awareness of the cultural, social, and political realities of the region, and greater understanding among the nations of the Americas.
