    Music of the Americas: New and Early Music, Live and Online

    Charlotte Mundy is live on our stage. We share early music videos by La Fontegara and Vincent Lauzer. And hear Argentine folk music by Verdún & Ciavattini

    En Casa continues with the duo of Damián Verdún and Mauro Ciavattini on a song by Atahualpa Yupanqui. Live onstage, Canadian soprano Charlotte Mundy presents her own work and other solos and pieces with electronics and with saxophonist Erin Rogers. Two early music videos complete the week: a Recuerdo of La Fontegara's concert in 2010 and a video of the Vincent Lauzer  concert earlier this year.

    En Casa: Damián Verdún & Mauro Ciavattini

    Monday, May 6, 10 am

    The Argentine duo of Damián Verdún (charango) and Mauro Ciavattini (woodwinds) revisits their country's traditional repertoire and performs their own compositions on saxophones, clarinets, and Andean wind instruments with charangos and ronrocos.

     The duo has performed extensively in Argentina and shared the stage with distinguished artists including Luna Monti, Facundo Guevara, Lilian Saba, Marcelo Chiodi, and Analuz Blanco, among others. They are currently touring their latest album Trotamundos, released in 2023. 

    From Buenos Aires, they sent us this version of Atahualpa Yupanqui's "La Viajerita."

    Music of the Americas: Charlotte Mundy

    The Canadian soprano Charlotte Mundy presents recently-written music by Raven Chacón, Francisco del Pino, and Christian Quiñones, alongside her original compositions for voice alone, with electronics, and with saxophone.

    Recuerdos: La Fontegara

    Wednesday, May 8, 7 pm

    Mexican early music group La Fontegara was on our stage in 2010 with a program of music from Mexican archives. 

    Among them was this version of "Marizápalos," from Santiago de Murcia's Códice Saldivar 4, a classic collection of baroque music for the guitar discovered in León in the 1940s. 

    Music of the Americas: Vincent Lauzer

    Friday, May 10, 10 am

    In March 2024, the Canadian recorder virtuoso Vincent Lauzer led a group of baroque specialists in Trio Sonatas by J.S. and C.P.E. Bach and Telemann.
