2014 Latin American Cities Conferences – Mexico: Reforms and Market Opportunities

AS/COA's May 12 conference will convene leaders in the public and private sector to discuss Mexico’s landmark reforms and their impact on the country’s global competitiveness.

New York, May 5, 2014—Americas Society/Council of the Americas will host their annual Mexico City conference “Reforms and Market Opportunities,” presented in partnership with ProMéxico on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This conference will be broadcast live. Hosted at the Club de Industriales, this conference will bring together senior public officials and private sector leaders in a conversation about Mexico’s landmark reforms and their impact on the country’s global competitiveness.

Designed to boost Mexico's growth, the energy, telecommunications, and reforms in financial services, are set to attract foreign investment, which in 2013 amounted to a record $35 billion. The Mexican economy will grow an estimated 3 percent this year and will rise 3.5 percent in 2015, an increase over the 1.1 percent growth in 2013, according to recent forecasts by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

"Last year was a transformative year for Mexico. By convening a relevant group of leaders from the public and private sectors, we will provide perspective on one of the most interesting economic stories of the moment," said AS/COA President and CEO Susan Segal.
