2014 Latin American Cities Conferences – Peru: Climate Change and the Role of the Private Sector
This year's Lima conference will explore how public-private partnerships can help address climate change.
New York, November 12, 2014—Although Peru has one of the lowest carbon dioxide emissions in the hemisphere, it is ranked among the top three countries worldwide that will be most affected by climate hazards. Join Americas Society/Council of the Americas at the ninth edition of their annual Lima conference “Peru: Climate Change and the Role of the Private Sector,” organized in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, on Friday, November 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. This event will be broadcast live.
In light of the twentieth session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) taking place this year in Lima, AS/COA’s conference will explore the role of the private sector in promoting the UNFCCC goals and mitigating the effects of climate change in Peru. A group of international business leaders, government officials, economists, and environmental experts will identify successful examples of public-private partnerships and examine how they can be replicated. The conference will further analyze how climate change will affect Peru’s economic prospects for 2015 and beyond.
