Minister Larraín to Participate in Council of the Americas Conference in Santiago  

New York, May 28, 2019— Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), the most influential business organization in the Western Hemisphere, in partnership with Chile’s Ministry of Finance, will host in Santiago the conference “The Path to a Diversified Economy” on May 31st at 9:00 a.m. in the Ritz-Carlton.

This will be the fourteenth Latin American Cities Conference hosted in Santiago, where local and International panelists will join us to discuss Chile’s economic diversification and the challenges and opportunities for investment and growth. The conference will be live webcast.

Joining the Minister of Finance, Felipe Larraín, will be: Rodrigo Yáñez, Vice Minister of Trade at the General Directorate of International Economic Relations; Fernando González, Chief Executive Officer, Cerro Dominador; Stephen Guthrie, Senior Vice President, Wholesale Banking, Scotiabank Chile; Charles Kimber, Senior Vice President, Celulosa Arauco y Construción S.A.; George Lasek, Chief Operating Office, SMEC; Matías Spagui, Executive Director, Mercado Pago Chile; Andrés Varas, Executive Director, APEC CEO Summit; and Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of The Americas.

Founded in 1965, AS/COA organizes more than 250 public policy programs per year in New York, Miami, Washington DC, and cities throughout Latin America. Events cover a wide range of topics, including economics, policy, trade, technology, security, education, social inclusion, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and energy. The conference “The Path to a Diversified Economy” is part of the organization’s Latin American Cities Conferences, a series of half-day events featuring top-level speakers in the public and private sectors across key cities in the region.
