Music of the Americas: Guitars and more

This week, we feature musicians from Chile, Peru, and Bolivia.

This week, two artists return to En Casa: Claudio Constantini and Caro Guttmann. We also release the video of the concert dedicated to Jaime Zenamon presented by Americas Society in collaboration with the New York Guitar Seminar in June.

En Casa: Caro Guttmann

Wednesday, October 9, 10 am

Caro Guttmann is back with her "Chacarera de la artista," a song that is included in her third album, La flor del secreto, and was composed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a reflection of the female artist on her creative process, on every day life, and on the design of her spiritual journey. It also honors female artists that have influenced her work, such as composer Violeta Parra, poet Gabriela Mistral, and healer Carmen Vicente, among others. The arrangement of this chacarera is by the Chilean duo Camila y Silvio. Violist Natalia Carrillo and percussionist Jazmín Vera accompany Guttmann again.

En Casa: Claudio Constantini

Thursday, October 10, 10 am

The Peruvian bandoneonist Claudio Constantini is back with one of his original compositions, "La valse perdue." It's a piece he wrote years ago while studying in Paris, and is inspired by French walzes and mussettes.

Music of the Americas: Jaime Zenamon

In June 2024, we presented a concert in collaboration with the New York Guitar Seminar. This year, the concert was dedicated to Bolivian composer and guitarist Jaime Zenamon, who was in attendance and received a special award.

Guitarists Matt Kaplan, Pierre Ferreyra-Mansilla, and Daniel Moreno, and cellist Mark Humburg performed several solos, duos, and trios, including world premieres.
