Music of the Americas to Present 'Transatlantic Music Heritage from Sancho to Johnson'

Music of the Americas is set to present a recital featuring Sonya Headlam and Rebecca Cypess entitled “Translatlantic Music Heritage from Sancho to Johnson.”
Scheduled for Feb. 13 at Americas Society in New York, the event will feature works by Black classical composers including Ignatius Sancho, Francis Johnson, and Joseph Bologne.
Headlam is a renowned soprano who has performed with such organizations as the Philadelphia Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, she became the Rohde Family Artist-in-Residence with the Chelsea Music Festival.
Cypess is a historical keyboardist who is also a Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
The performance kicks off at 7 p.m. local time.
