New Sounds Writes About Momenta Quartet at Americas Society
The website, part of New York Public Radio, says that the quartet will end its annual festival with a concert at Americas Society.
The members of the Momenta Quartet do an annual festival here in New York that covers 500 years of classical music, and each event is curated by one of the quartet’s members. Thursday, Oct. 5 is the final night of this free series, and with violinist Alex Shiozaki choosing the music, it’s no surprise that works by the flashy violinst/composer Eugene Ysaye will appear. But the program includes music by the Cuban- American composer Ileana Perez Velazquez and the Japanese composer Somei Satoh. And it’ll conclude with a bang: Beethoven’s String Quartet #6. Momenta Quartet plays on Oct. 5 at The Americas Society.
