U.S. Pledges Action on Latam Trade Deal
During COA's annual Washington Conference, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called on Latin American governments to speed up reforms, saying that U.S. President Barack Obama is pushing to get Congress to pass the stalled trade agreements with Colombia and Panama.
The main thrust of the agenda was to boost economic growth in Latin America and the U.S. but Clinton was quick to point out serious problems standing in the way of lifting millions of Latins out of poverty.
Clinton called on Latin American governments to speed up reforms and then promised Obama is pushing harder now to get Congress to pass two key stalled trade agreements with Colombia and Panama.
