Why Argentina’s Export Boom Is Falling Short
Government policy, macroeconomic trouble and political crisis are holding the country back.
BUENOS AIRES — Times are good in the agriculture-led Argentine export sector. The country’s exports reached $35.9 billion in the period from January through May, up 26.6% from the same period a year ago. Trading terms overall are currently the best in decades for Argentina, according to data from its National Statistics Agency. But they could be much better.
