At the July 24 launch of AS/COA’s white paper U.S. Business and Hispanic Integration, Senator Ken Salazar, Representative Michael Honda, and other congressional leaders joined high-ranking corporate representatives to speak on the importance of achieving greater integration of Hispanics within the United States.
Held in São Paulo, this roundtable discussion brought together leading corporate and non-profit representatives as well as academics to discuss the evolution of CSR and best practices, with a focus on Brazil. The program coincided with the AS/COA Latin American Cities Conference.
“Trade agreements are not gifts of the United States [to another country] but gifts that we give ourselves,” said U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab. In a period of economic uncertainty, trade is an important driver of re-energizing economic growth, she emphasized at the 2008 Washington Conference on the Americas.
