Lygia Pape is one of the founders of the Neoconcrete movement in Brazil in the 1950s. This was the first presentation of her pioneering abstract work to a US audience, and included the innovative cardboard book/sculpture/poem Book of Creation (1959) and the Neoconcrete Ballet (1959). This exhibition explored the history and development of photography in Guatemala in over 100 images, from temples to plantations, travelers to politicians, soldiers to families. The almost completely unknown wealth of images in Picturing Guatemala also offered an exhilarating view of over 120 years of the nation’s cultural history. It was the first survey of Guatemalan photography to be presented in the United States.

Gerardo Suter, an Argentine artist living in Mexico is one of Latin America's most important contemporary photographers. This exhibition presented a mid-career survey of a dozen years of his work, which ranges from early photographs of enigmatic landscapes and ruins, to larger prints of more dramatic tableaux featuring nude figures with masks and other props, to recent monumental installations that combine photography with video and performance elements.
