Energy Action Group
Americas Society/Council of the Americas Energy Action Group (EAG) brings together the public and private sectors to develop strategic energy policies for the Americas. The EAG hosts forums in cities across the Americas and publishes working papers and recommendations on key energy and climate topics.

Global investments in renewable energy reached record levels last year, though funding for such projects in Latin American remains limited.
This Energy Action Group working paper explores Chile’s efforts to achieve the energy security it needs to promote continued economic growth. Recommendations are based in part on a high-level meeting with Chile's energy minister.

In a statement submitted to the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, COA voiced support for U.S. imports of Canadian oil and the construction of the appropriate infrastructure to facilitate the U.S.-Canada oil trade.
This AS/COA Energy Action Group issue brief describes the recent reforms to the management of Brazil’s pre-salt oil reserves and the challenges ahead for new President Rousseff as she works to implement the changes.

The AS/COA Energy Action Group's new working paper explores the transformation of Peru’s oil and gas sector from an industry in decline to a major contributor for economic growth in Peru. The paper makes several recommendations based on Peru’s experience but intended for broader hemispheric consideration.
"Energy should be one area that brings hemispheric leaders together," writes COA Vice President Eric Farnsworth in Poder. "Nonetheless, two significant obstacles exist in making the Western Hemisphere a model region for energy cooperation: politics and investment climate issues."
