Overview

Since the start of the year, Trump has dominated headlines, especially with his approach to Latin America. But within the region, there have been major stories outside of the U.S. president—a potential IMF agreement in Argentina, a tax bill in Brazil, primaries in Honduras, and more.

In an in-person, off-the-record cafecito with Young Professionals of the Americas, José Enrique Arrioja, a veteran journalist and the managing editor of Americas Quarterly, will give his analysis of the region’s major moments of 2025 that don’t fall until the specter of Trump. And he'll look to the future, speaking with moderator Chase Harrison of AS/COA Online, about the stories that will shape the rest of the year. After Arrioja's appraisal, there will be a Q&A.
