BRAVO Leadership Conversation: IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and Softbank Group International CEO Marcelo Claure
The two leaders discuss Latin American economic development as part of the 2020 COA Symposium and BRAVO Virtual Series.
Overview
Join Council of the Americas in a conversation with Luis Alberto Moreno, president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Marcelo Claure, CEO of SoftBank Group International. The leaders will discuss critical issues impacting Latin America today including the importance of innovative and multi-sectoral initiatives to advance the recovery and development of Latin America and the Caribbean in a post-pandemic world.
The conversation will be a timely and unique opportunity to hear President Moreno talk about his 15-year legacy leading and transforming the IDB. Under Moreno’s leadership, the IDB expanded its programming and funding, becoming the leading source of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean. Among his greatest contributions is helping to strengthen the relationship with the private sector as a critical partner in reducing poverty and improving services in the region.
Marcelo Claure, one of the top technology entrepreneurs and business leaders in the world, made waves in 2019 launching the $5 billion SoftBank Innovation Fund (SIF), the largest-ever technology fund focused exclusively on the Latin American market. Last year, the IDB and SoftBank partnered to enhance support to startups and the innovation ecosystem in Latin America, jointly contributing to create some of the most important business success stories in the region.
As the region faces enormous opportunities to transform markets through the power of technology, this conversation will showcase two pioneers who are leading the efforts to make this a reality.
This conversation is part of the 2020 COA Symposium and BRAVO Virtual Series: Leadership and Transformation in Times of Crisis. The series addresses the unprecedented challenges brought globally and regionally by the pandemic, as well as the various responses across sectors and stakeholders in order to reshape the post COVID-19 world.
