Overview
Join the Venezuela Working Group and Young Professionals of the Americas (YPA) for a Cafecito with Ana Cristina Vargas, founder of Trazando Espacios Públicos. Learn about her unique career path and her efforts to teach and build citizenship through participatory design workshops to transform public spaces in Venezeula.
As an MIT alumna, she has been invited to present at the MIT Media Lab the results and impact of her organization’s educational programs. For the past two years, she has promoted social inclusion initiatives around Venezuela, where children and young adults learn observation, design and construction tools in order to transform the public spaces of their community.
In 2014, she won the UN-Habitat Best Practices award with the Dubai Municipality for Tracing Public Spaces as a research project. In 2016, the organization recognized for "Improving Lives in the Cities of Venezuela" by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Impact Hub, Caracas. The Metropolitan Mayoralty of Caracas also recognized the organization for collaborating to create a safer and more integrated city.
YPA is an international network that provides a platform for young professionals in their 20s and 30s to connect around the latest trends in the Americas through its New York City and Miami chapters.
