Overview

Join Council of the Americas for a high-level panel with leaders who will share cross-industry perspectives on the opportunities for Latin America to leverage its growing digital ecosystem to tackle the region's important challenges.

In terms of technological innovation and digital penetration, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought big opportunities for Latin America across sectors and industries. The rapid digital transformation that the region experienced in 2020 was traditionally believed to take years of multi-sectoral efforts.

From a 30-percent increase in e-commerce, to 66 percent of companies willing to extend virtual work post-pandemic, to two-thirds of consumers using less cash and making more digital payments, Latin Americans have adopted technology into their daily lives—and there’s no going back.

In comparison to developed economies, the opportunities for continued growth and expansion for the coming years are large given the young stages of the region’s digital ecosystem. In this context, how can Latin America leverage today’s digital ecosystem and its big opportunities to tackle the region’s important challenges in terms of inequality and sustainable development?

Speakers:

  • Gaston Bottazzini, CEO, Falabella
  • Alvaro Cardenas, President, Latin America & Caribbean, Diageo
  • Cristina Palmaka, President, SAP Latin America & Caribbean
  • Ignacio Yarur, Chief of Innovation and Digital Bank, Bci
  • Federico Muxí, Managing Director & Senior Partner, Argentina & Chile, BCG (moderator)
