    The 2020 Washington Conference on the Americas began with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussing regional issues including China’s growing profile. 

    To follow up these important remarks, we arranged a private conversation with Julie Chung, state department principal deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of Western Hemispheric Affairs.
