Miami Launch - Alejandro Toledo's The Shared Society: A Vision for the Global Future of Latin America
Join AS/COA for a Miami launch of The Shared Society: A Vision for the Global Future of Latin America.
Overview
Americas Society/Council of the Americas and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives at Miami Dade College will host a discussion with former President of Peru Alejandro Toledo and Miami book launch of The Shared Society: A Vision for the Global Future of Latin America.
In The Shared Society, Toledo examines the Latin American reality at a crucial moment in history. In recent decades, Latin America has experienced dramatic economic growth and development. But is this growth sustainable? Have the poorest members of society been fully integrated into democratic processes across the region? The former president puts forth a proposal to minimize inequality, preserve the ecosystem, and strengthen democracy in Latin America.
Toledo served as president of Peru from 2001 to 2006. He received his PhD in economics from Stanford University where he has also been a distinguished visiting lecturer at the Freeman Spogli Institute's Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law. In recent years, he has written about policy-oriented academic issues related to economic growth, social inclusion, and democracy.
This event is complimentary for all AS/COA members, YPA members, and guests. Prior registration is required.
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
Copies of the book will be available for sale. The program will be followed by a book signing.
