Recuerdos: Pauchi Sasaki
While we wait for the online premiere of Pauchi Sasaki's audiovisual k'uKu, we thought it would be good to remember her latest in-person visit to Music of the Americas. In 2014, she participated in a conversation/performance organized in collaboration with Composers Now and gave a performance with her speaker dress.

En Casa: Jacinta Clusellas
Facebook
Jacinta Clusellas is an Argentine composer, arranger, and guitarist based in NYC. Her songs are influenced by poems, nature, and literature from South America. She made a guest appearance on our series a few years ago invited by Juan Falú. She sent us her "A dónde llega el silencio," ("How Far Does Silence Reach") which she describes as "Images of peace and silence. When we really absorb them, what does silence generate in us? If it is sadness, it can also fill us with life."

En Casa: Eddy and Sebastián Marcano
Facebook
Sebastián Marcano was a baby when his father, Venezuelan violinist Eddy Marcano, first appeared in our series in 2009. Now based in Houston, the father-son duo (Sebastián plays the cuatro) sent us their version of Aldemaro Romero's classic onda nueva hit "De repente". Created by Romero in the late 60s, onda nueva combines traditional Venezuelan joropo with jazz and bossa nova.
