Overview

This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled at later date.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please join the Council of the Americas for a discussion on North American efforts to facilitate trade and strengthen integrated supply chains.

The speakers will address next steps for a set of commercial initiatives announced at the North American Leaders Summit, which took place in Toluca, Mexico on February 19. According to the Summit’s joint statement, the three governments are committed to developing a North American Competitiveness Work Plan focused on investment, innovation, and increased private sector engagement, as well as a North American Transportation Plan and Trusted Traveler Program. In addition, U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order on streamlining the export/import process for America’s businesses, an action designed to reduce the costs of trade by providing an electronic “single window.”

As representatives from the Canadian, Mexican, and U.S. governments, the speakers will welcome feedback from Council of the Americas members on implementation of these efforts and on broader opportunities and challenges throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Speakers:

  • Michael Eyestone, Minister-Counselor (Commercial Policy) and Senior Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Canada
  • Kenneth Smith Ramos, Minister, Trade and NAFTA Office, Embassy of Mexico
  • ChristineTurner, Director, Global Supply Chain Security, National Security Council, The White House
