About the artist:

Álvaro Barrios (b. 1945, Barranquilla, Colombia) is a conceptual artist engaging in themes including pop culture and art history. He currently lives and works in Barranquilla, Colombia. In 1966 he went to Italy to study at the Universitá di Perugia and in la Fondazione Giorgio Cini di Venezia. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York; Centro Wifredo Lam, Havana; and the Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, DC.
