Co-publishers Asdrubal Hernández and María Angélica García will highlight the work of this innovative publisher of Latin American writing in Spanish, and will introduce authors Alexis Iparraguirre (Peru), Francisco Díaz Klaassen (Chile), and Israel Centeno (Venezuela). These authors will discuss their creative processes and read selections of their writing. A book signing will follow. This program will be held in Spanish.

Sudaquia Editores is an independent publishing house based in New York City that addresses the Spanish-speaking population in the United States and Canada, as well as serving as a forum for Latin American literature. Its catalogue comprises more than 35 titles—novels, short-story collections, memoirs, chronicles, and poetry—by authors from throughout the Latin American continent. Israel Centeno (b. Caracas) is the author of Rabo del Diablo y otros cuentos (1993), Criaturas de la noche (2000), Hilo de Cometa y otras iniciaciones (1996), Calletania (1992-2008), Exilio en Bowery (1997-1999), El complot (2002), Iniciaciones (2006) and Bajo las hojas (2010). He has received numerous awards, including the Premio Federico García Lorca, presented by the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana of Spain (1987). In 2009, his unpublished novel Bajo las hojas was on the shortlist of the III-Premio Iberoamericano Planeta-Casa de América. He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a resident writer of City of Asylum.
Francisco Díaz-Klaassen (b. Santiago de Chile) is the author of the novels Antología del cuento nuevo chileno (2009) and El hombre sin acción (2011). In 2010, he was awarded with the Roberto Bolaño prize and was selected by the International Book Fair of Guadalajara, during its 25 anniversary, as one of the “25 best-kept secrets of Latin America.” He is studying in the MFA program in Creative Writing at New York University.
Alexis Iparraguirre (b. Lima) is a Peruvian short-story writer. His El Inventario de las Naves, won the prestigious PUCP National Prize for Narrative in 2005. Iparraguirre studied Linguistics and Literature at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and holds an MFA degree in Creative Writing in Spanish from New York University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages at CUNY Graduate Center.
