The Pacific Alliance is an integration initiative focused on decreasing trade barriers and fostering the free circulation of goods, services, capital, and people. Launched in 2011 and with an eye to the Asia-Pacific region, the Alliance's four members—Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru—play an outsized role in the economy of Latin America and the Caribbean; together they account for 38 percent of the region's GDP and represent the eighth-biggest export force worldwide. In July, President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos assumed the pro tempore presidency of the Alliance.
Americas Society/Council of the Americas is pleased to air a live webcast of a discussion with the presidents of Chile and Colombia, along with Mexico's economy secretary and Peru's commerce minister, on the trade and investment opportunities offered by the Pacific Alliance.
