Venezuela: What Comes after Default?
On October 25, AS/COA will host four experts for an off-the-record conversation on possible legal actions by bondholders, sanctions, and the overall outlook for Venezuela’s energy sector.
Overview
October and November will be crucial for Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, PDVSA. The company faces two payments: PDVSA’s $840 million amortization of its 2020 bond this month and the first installment, worth $500 million, of the Conoco agreement in November, plus a ruling on the Crystallex appeal case. Meanwhile, the country’s oil production remains stagnant at record-low levels. In this context, AS/COA will host four leading experts for an off-the-record conversation on possible scenarios, with a focus on legal actions by bondholders and the overall outlook for Venezuela’s energy sector, and a discussion about sanctions.
This event is part of AS/COA’s Venezuela Working Group Series.
