Young Guitarists Showcase
Young guitarists from top New York City conservatoires perform repertoire from the Americas.
Overview
After a successful concert in 2019, Music of the Americas is pleased to invite a group of young guitarists currently enrolled in some of the City's leading conservatories—Juilliard, Mannes, Manhattan School of Music, and Hunter College—to perform on our virtual stage. This program gives us the opportunity to spotlight promising young guitarists and to help them familiarize themselves with the rich Latin American repertoire.
Please join the live chat on our YouTube channel during the concert.
Musicians this year include Giuseppe Buscemi, Octávio Deluchi, Miles and Ziggy Johnston, Brian Kirk, Gabriele Leite, Kristal Rojas, and Ryan Sullivan.
Program:
Gabriele Leite: Jongo by Paulo Bellinati
Giuseppe Buscemi: Estudios Sencillos, 1-4 by Leo Brouwer
Octávio Deluchi: Prelude and Dance No. 4 by Luis Carlos Barbieri
Brian Kirk and Ryan Sullivan: Libertango by Ástor Piazzolla
Kristal Rojas: Etude No. 5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos
