The exhibition featured paintings from the permanent collection of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, including works by Paterson Ewen, Charles Gagnon, Yves Gaucher, Jacques Hurtubise, and Jean McEwen. It concentrated on the painting produced in Montreal in the 1960s, a period of great excitement, experimentation, and burgeoning cultural activity. Montreal Painting of the 1960s: a propos d’une peinture des années soixante was curated by Josée Bélisle and Pierre Landry.
