Ali Moshiri
Ali Moshiri has been president of Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company, based in Houston, Texas, since 2008. Prior to this position, Moshiri was appointed managing director of Chevron Latin America Exploration and Production Company in 2001, where he was responsible for upstream operations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. He assumed the position of general manager and advisor to the vice chairman of the board for Chevron Corporation Exploration and Production in 2000. Moshiri was named general manager of Strategic Planning and Assets Evaluation for Chevron Overseas Petroleum in 1997, with responsibility for 10 international strategic business units, including mergers and acquisitions and new business development. He became supervisor of Petroleum Engineering for Chevron Overseas Petroleum in 1991, with responsibilities for petroleum engineering activities in international operations. He held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility between 1992 and 1997 as manager of Petroleum and Facilities Engineering operations, including worldwide operational support; new opportunity assessment and operational feasibility; and support for petroleum and capital projects within existing operations. Moshiri joined Chevron Overseas Petroleum in the United Kingdom in 1987 as manager of Technical Applications for exploration and production activities in the North Sea. He served as supervisor of Reservoir and Facilities Engineering for Chevron Energy Technology Company in Houston with responsibilities supporting upstream activities from 1983 to 1987. He became senior production engineer with supervisory responsibilities in the Gulf of Mexico in 1983. Moshiri joined Chevron in 1978 as a reservoir engineer and later became a drilling engineer. He is a member of the Jones Graduate School Council of Overseers at Rice University; serves on the Advisory Board of Spindletop International Charities; serves on the boards of the Council of the Americas, the Institute of the Americas, the Trust for the Americas, the Organization of American States, the William J. Clinton Foundation’s Presidential Advisory Council on Economic Growth and Investment for Haiti; as chairman of the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative and the Houston Zoo; and was chairman of the Venezuelan Association of Hydrocarbons from 2005 to 2006. Moshiri graduated from the University of Tulsa with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in petroleum engineering in 1978.
