Amerigo Incalcaterra has worked in the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights as regional representative for South America, representative in Mexico and Guatemala, and deputy director in Colombia. He also served as deputy commissioner of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG). He participated in peacekeeping operations in Central America, served as advisor to the UN departments of Political Affairs and Peacekeeping Operations, and he advised the special sepresentatives of the secretary general. He held protection and program positions with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Angola, Belize, Cuba, Guatemala, and Mexico.
