Antonio de Aguiar Patriota
Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations
Antonio de Aguiar Patriota is the permanent representative of Brazil to the UN. He currently chairs the sixtieth Session of the Commission on the Status of Women and served as the chair of the Peacebuilding Commission of the UN from 2013 to 2014. De Aguilar Patriota also served as the Brazilian foreign minister, deputy foreign minister, and ambassador of Brazil to the United States. During his diplomatic career, he was also posted twice in Geneva and New York, as well as in Beijing and Caracas. Among his publications are his thesis entitled The UN Security Council after the Gulf War and the book Brazilian Foreign Policy: Speeches, Articles and Interviews.
