Cristina Díaz
Cristina Díaz is a Mexican senator representing the state of Nuevo León. She also serves as the president of the Governing Commission, the first woman to ever hold this post. Among her many leadership responsibilities within her party, Díaz was the secretary general of the National Confederation of Popular Organizations, one of the three branches of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (Partido Revolucionario Institucional, PRI) from June 2013 to February 2017. Throughout her political career, she has served as a federal and local deputy and was the first woman ever elected mayor of Guadalupe, Nuevo León. Díaz has also been a professor at her alma mater, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, in the Law and Criminology, Social Sciences, and Political Science and Public Administration departments.
