Daniel Kerner
Daniel Kerner leads Eurasia Group's Latin America practice. He focuses on Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela, with particular emphasis on politics and economic and regulatory policies. His sectoral expertise includes energy and natural resources, as well as retail. Kernerl has done comprehensive research on foreign direct investment in Latin America and the influence of economic ideas on structural reform in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Daniel worked at the University of Buenos Aires doing research on foreign direct investment in Latin America and the influence of economic ideas on structural reform in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. He has published articles on political reform and economic history in major academic journals including CEPAL Review and Desarrollo Económico, and has edited volumes in Latin America and the US. He has lived and studied in both Argentina and Mexico, and conducted intensive research in Brazil. He is a frequent contributor to media outlets in Latin America, Europe and the US. Kerner holds a BA/MA in political science from the University of Buenos Aires, where he also worked as a research fellow. He holds MA degrees in both economics and Latin American history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is fluent in Spanish.
