David Gruppo
David Gruppo is a managing director and head of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ’s Latin America Corporate and Investment Banking for the Americas, based in New York. Gruppo joined BTMU in 2010 from IBM, where he was involved in corporate strategy and business development for the healthcare and telecom industries. Prior to joining IBM, Gruppo worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Santander, building those firms’ businesses in Latin America. Previously, he was named a Henry Luce Scholar and spent a year working in Tokyo as a legislative assistant for a member of the Japanese Diet. Gruppo began his career as a corporate lawyer with Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York. He is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations. Gruppo holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.
