Dr. Karin Breitman is the general manager of the R&D Center at EMC Brazil. Prior to joining EMC, Breitman worked as a professor of computer science in the Informatics Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the Rio de Janeiro State University, a MSc. degree in computer science from Rio de Janeiro Federal University, and a DSc. degree in informatics from PUC-Rio. She is the author of over 70 research papers and journal papers. She has received research grants from public institutions and private industry, including NASA, CNRS, IBM, Hewlett Packard and more recently, Microsoft. She recently published Video Processing in the Cloud and edited Patterns, Programming and Everything. Her research focuses on software engineering and its applications in knowledge representation, linked data, semantic web, and cloud computing.
