Federico Pinedo is the provisional president of the Senate of Argentina, a position he has held since December 10, 2015. He previously served as a congressman for two consecutive terms: from 2003 to 2007, and from 2007 to 2015. Pinedo worked in the private sector for 25 years as a partner at the law firm Pinedo/Sanchez Elia & Pinedo. Between 1992 and 1993 he worked at the National Telecommunications Commission. Pinedo previously served as inspector general in the municipality of the City of Buenos Aires and was councilman of the City of Buenos Aires from 1987 to 1991. He was also a consultant for the Dominican Republic government as a senior expert of the International Telecommunication Union and of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union. Pinedo was in charge of drafting the Telecommunications Act of Dominican Republic, and of the review and preparation of the blue book on Telecommunication Policies for the Americas. He was also a consultant to the Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services in the reorganization of the National Telecommunications Commission, on a team led by NERA Economic Consulting. Pinedo taught at various institutions, such as the Higher Institute of Economics and Business Administration, Austral University, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and Universidad del Salvador. He received his law degree from the UBA.
