Fernando Borges
Fernando Borges is a managing director and the head of the Carlyle South America Buyout group. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Carlyle’s three portfolio companies in the region: CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A., Latin America’s largest travel services company; Qualicorp Participações S.A., one of the largest healthcare benefit administrators in Brazil; and Scalina S.A., a leading hosiery and lingerie producer in Brazil. Prior to joining Carlyle, Borges was a managing director at AIG Capital Partners and CEO of AIG Capital Investments do Brasil (“AIG”), being responsible for managing AIG’s private equity activities in Brazil. He has 17 years of private equity experience in Brazil and has participated in more than 20 transactions in the region. Borges holds a graduate degree from the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University, the Bologna Center, and a B.A. in international relations from Universidade de Brasília.
