Fernando A. González was appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of CEMEX in 2014, a leading global building materials company with presence in four continents. CEMEX is dedicated to the production and commercialization of cement, ready-mix concrete, and aggregates, as well as related solutions for the building industry. Mr. González joined CEMEX in 1989, when the company was starting its international expansion. He held several senior management positions in South America and the Caribbean region, was president of the CEMEX Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia region, and Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning, Finance, and Administration (CFO). Before joining CEMEX, Fernando A. González worked for ten years at an international steel technology company with operations in South America, the Middle East, and South East Asia. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua, Axtel, and University Tec Milenio. He earned his BA in Administration and an MBA, both from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
