Fernando González
Fernando González is the CEO of EIG Atacama Management LLC, which is developing the Cerro Dominador 210MW solar project in the Atacama Desert in Chile. He has over 20 years of executive experience in the energy industry having worked on Big Four Accounting Firms, Fortune 500, and private equity backed start-up companies. His senior executive expertise was built on complex transactions, financing, and operations focused in the global power sector, both in the traditional (gas, coal, hydro) as well as renewable energy (solar, wind, ocean thermal energy). González is the founder of FGC Consulting LLC, a boutique consulting firm based in Reston, VA. Previously, he was the chief financial officer at The Dorado Group, an internationally recognized leader in independent power, project finance, and private infrastructure. González served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for ContourGlobal, a power development company based in the United States, with operations in over 13 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Africa. ContourGlobal develops, acquires, and operates electric power and district heating businesses around the globe with a focus upon high-growth, under-served markets, and innovative niches within developed markets. Prior to ContourGlobal, at The AES Corporation, a Fortune 500 global power company with operations in 29 countries, he was regional CFO for Europe, CIS, and Africa and director of the Restructuring Office and Office of the Integrated Utilities. His work has spanned over seven years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Arlington, VA, as well as in London. Before joining AES, González worked for six years in Arthur Andersen’s office in Buenos Aires, in the Audit and Advisory area. His main clients included power, insurance, and waste management companies.
