Gabriel Quijandria is vice minister of strategic development of natural resources of Peru. He has previously served as a consultant to the Climate Change Unit of the IDB Sustainable Energy Development, representative of The Nature Conservancy in Peru, environmental specialist of the Executive Secretariat of the National Environment Council (CONAM), and technical director of the Project Tambopata-Inambari. Quijandria was also a specialist in international cooperation of the National Fund for Compensation and Social Development (Foncodes), technical director of the National Fund for Natural Areas Protected by the State (PROFONANPE), and research associate of the Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development INCAE. Quijandria has taught at the Universidad del Pacífico and consulted the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, Grupo de Análisis para el Desarrollo, and WWF-USA. He is coauthor of "Community Participation in Monitoring of Mining Activities: The Cases of Vicos and San Mateo Huanchor" and "Private International Finance and the Environment in Latin America." He holds a degree in sociology from the University of the Republic of Uruguay and has a master’s in natural resource management American Institute for Administration from INCAE in Costa Rica.
