Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel
Gonzalo Gutierrez was appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru in June 2014. A career diplomat in the Peruvian Foreign Service, he has previously served as ambassador of Peru to the People’s Republic of China; non-resident ambassador to Mongolia, North Korea, and Pakistan; permanent representative of Peru to the United Nations; and vice president of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. In the public sector, Minister Gutierrez has also served as vice minister of Foreign Affairs, undersecretary for Economic Affairs, executive director of the Bureau for Trade Promotion, acting undersecretary for the Americas, and director for South America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has a degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and received a Master’s degree in International Public Policy from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. Gutierrez has also pursued graduated studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science and the JFK School of Government of Harvard University.
Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel es ministro de Relaciones Exteriores del Perú desde junio de 2014. Diplomático de Carrera, ha servido como embajador en el servicio diplomático de la República del Perú. Entre los principales cargos ocupados por el embajador Gutiérrez están embajador en la República Popular China, representante permanente del Perú ante las Naciones Unidas y viceministro secretario general de Relaciones Exteriores. En la Cancillería del Perú se ha desempeñado como subsecretario de Asuntos Económicos, director ejecutivo de la Oficina de Promoción Económica, subsecretario encargado de América y director de América del Sur, entre otros cargos. Gutiérrez es licenciado en Relaciones Internacionales de la Academia Diplomática del Perú. También tiene una Maestría en International Public Policy de Johns Hopkins University.
