Ignacio González
Ignacio González joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay in 2009. Posted to Brussels, Belgium, from 2012 to 2017, he has worked at the political and international cooperation department at the Uruguayan Mission to the European Union.
Returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uruguay from 2017 to 2019, he worked at the Directorate General for Political Affairs and later at the Minister of Foreign Affair’s Cabinet.
In 2019, he was posted as Consul General in San Francisco, tasked to open Uruguay’s first technology office abroad. Since then, he has carried out business development efforts in Silicon Valley, helping contact dozens of Uruguayan tech companies with US tech companies and vice versa.He has helped US companies outsource their software development and other key areas of their operations to Uruguay.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a Certificate of Diplomatic Studies from Oxford. He speaks Spanish, English, French, and Italian and has conversational skills in German.
