John Qualter
John Qualter is the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of BioDigital, Inc., where he leads digital content creation of the BioDigital Human, and directs the delivery of platform solutions for clients in the device, pharmaceutical, and communications industries. He is a pioneer in the field of biomedical visualization, promoting the implementation of web-based 3D media in the healthcare industry. As a Research Assistant Professor in Educational Informatics at the NYU School of Medicine, Qualter worked on innovative computer-based learning projects within the Institute for Innovations in Medical Education that helped reshape and modernize the medical school curriculum. Previously at NYU, Qualter consulted the Department of Surgery, on a joint effort with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Association of Surgical Education (ASE) to help build and launch the web-based product known as the Web Initiative for Surgical Education (WISE-MD), currently used by over 100 medical and osteopathic schools nationwide. Other projects included The Merrin Bedside Teaching Faculty Development Program and The Patient Education Initiative. As an educator, John has been adjunct faculty at NYU SCPS teaching medical visualization to graduate students and has also assisted with anatomy instruction at NYU School of Medicine. Qualter obtained a Master of Science in Digital Imaging and Design from New York University’s Center for Advanced Digital Applications. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he studied studio art, digital media, and biology.
