José Berenguer
José Berenguer is the president of J.P. Morgan Brazil, joining the company in 2013. From 2012 to 2013, he was CEO of Gávea Crédito Estruturado, responsible for the creation and development of the department of structural credit. From 2007 to 2012, Berenguer worked at Banco Santander where he was the CEO of the investments and wholesale banking division, CEO of the retail banking division, and executive vice president of asset management and investments division. He was also a member of the council for Banco Santander Brazil. From 2002 to 2007, Berenguer was vice president at Banco ABN Amro Real, responsible for corporate banking, global markets, private banking, products, and ALCO. He also worked at Banco BBA Creditanstalt, Utor Investimentos, ING Barings, and ING Bank Brazil from 1990 to 2002. Berenguer began his career in 1985 at Banco Boavista, as the managing director of the currency exchange department. Currently, he is the executive director and member of the board of Febraban, a board member of BM&F Bovespa, and president-director of ABBI. Berenguer has a bachelor's in law from the Catholic University of São Paulo.
