Madelka McCalla
Madelka McCalla is AES' chief corporate affairs and impact officer. Prior to this position, Madelka served as vice president of Global Stakeholder Relations and Social Impact, and in various Stakeholder Relation roles in Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East and Africa. She first joined AES as AES' Africa corporate social responsibility director (2010–2013) in Cameroon and Nigeria. Madelka was part of the Panamanian Foreign service from 2005 to 2009 where she represented the country at the Embassy of Panama to the United States as political counselor and at the Permanent Mission of Panama to the United Nations as Political Attaché. Her experience also includes the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Panama as UN coordination specialist in which she managed the UN Resident Coordinator's communication with UN actors and worked to identify the country's needs and priorities in line with the UN Millennium Development Goals. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science (focused on international relations) and sociology from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She holds a Master of Arts in global governance and public policy with a minor concentration in development and technology in developing countries from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany. Madelka is an alumni of Georgetown Global Competitive Leadership for Ibero-American professionals and a Fellow of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
