Marcelo Moraes is a journalist and the director of the Brasilia branch of the Brazilian newspaper O Estado, where he has covered politics and economics in Brasilia since 2004. Moraes has written on the last five presidential elections, as well as five other municipal elections. Before taking on this position, he had serves as executive production editor, managing editor in Brasilia, policy coordinator, and reporter. Since January, he has maintained the Blog The Power of No Secrets in the State Portal. He also worked on other major media outlets in the country, such as O Globo, Veja, Jornal do Brazil, Economic Value, Mail Braziliense, among others. Between 2003 and 2004 Moraes was head of Social Communication of the Ministry of the Environment, during the administration of Marina Silva.
