Maria Elena Lagomasino
Maria Elena (Mel) Lagomasino is CEO and managing partner of WE Family Offices. In this role, she engages client families to build their wealth enterprises and provides the support and control they need to manage their wealth as a business enterprise. Before founding WE, Lagomasino served as CEO of GenSpring Family Offices. Prior to that, she served as chairman and CEO of JP Morgan Private Bank following the Chase-JP Morgan merger. Lagomasino joined the Chase Manhattan Private Bank in 1983 and was named head of Chase’s worldwide private banking business in 1997. Her career in banking began in 1977 at Citibank. Currently, Lagomasino serves on the boards of The Coca-Cola Company, Avon Products, Inc., and the Americas Society, and is a Trustee of the National Geographic Society. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In September 2006, Lagomasino was appointed by President Bush to help lead an effort to secure private sector funds to aid disaster victims in Central America. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College and graduate degrees from Colombia University and Fordham University.
