Marina Silva
Ex-Senator, Federal Senate of Brazil
Marina Silva has been a public servant in Brazil for the past 30 years. In addition to running for president in 2010 and 2014, she was the Minister of the Environment from 2003 to 2009. Silva has also served as councillor, assembly member, and two terms as senator. She has been internationally recognized for her work in support of the environment and promotion of sustainable development. Since 2011, Silva has been a member of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Group. She received her BA in History from the Federal University of Acre and also earned postgraduate degrees in Educational Psychology and Psychoanalytic Theory.
